AFTER THE STORM · COLUMBUS, GEORGIA

The tree damage is obvious.
The roof damage may not be.

Trees snapped. Branches down. A fence on the ground. If high winds hit your property, let Weather Shielders check what you may not be able to see from the driveway.

No missing shingles does not always mean no damage.

A quick look from the yard cannot tell you everything about a roof after high winds. Shingles may still be in place while tabs, flashing or other roof details need attention. Tree limbs can also strike a roof and leave damage that is difficult to see from below.

Branches, trees or fences down nearby? Make a roof assessment part of your cleanup plan. Those warning signs are a reason to look closer, not a diagnosis. We document what we find and explain the next steps.

We especially encourage homeowners with three-tab shingle roofs 10 years old or older to schedule a free storm damage assessment after high winds. A roof’s age alone does not establish storm damage, an insurance claim or a need for replacement.

Roof assessment & photos

We inspect accessible areas, photograph observed damage, and explain repair options and estimated costs. We can help before you file a claim and provide documentation for your adjuster.

Emergency roof tarping

When a roof is open or exposed, we can arrange temporary protection to help prevent additional interior damage while the next steps are coordinated. Call for current response availability.

Fallen-tree service

A tree on your house or large limbs across the yard? We offer tree removal, cutting and haul-off. Tell us about nearby power lines, blocked access and structural damage when you call.

Repairs & restoration

Roofing, siding, gutters, damaged fences and other storm-related repairs can be discussed together. We explain the proposed scope so you know what happens next.

What to do after the wind stops.

  1. Put safety first. Stay away from downed lines, unstable trees and damaged structures. Call 911 for immediate danger and the utility for downed lines. Do not climb onto a storm-damaged roof.
  2. Call Weather Shielders. Tell us whether a tree is on the home, water is getting inside or the roof has an opening. Call rather than relying on an online request for urgent damage.
  3. Keep a record. Take photos from a safe location, note when you noticed the damage, and keep estimates and receipts.
  4. Plan the recovery. We can assess the damage, discuss temporary protection and prepare a clear scope for cleanup and restoration.

CLEAR ANSWERS BEFORE YOU START

Storm restoration & insurance FAQs

Can my roof be damaged without missing shingles?

Yes. Wind can lift or crease shingles and damage roof details without leaving an obvious bare spot. Fallen branches or a downed fence are reasons to check your home, but they do not prove your roof has damage. An assessment helps identify what actually needs attention.

Should I schedule an assessment for a 10-year-old three-tab roof?

If your home experienced high winds, we especially encourage an assessment for three-tab shingles that are 10 years old or older. Age alone does not prove storm damage or mean you need a new roof. We evaluate the condition and explain repair or replacement options.

Can you help before I file an insurance claim?

Yes. We can inspect, photograph visible conditions and provide repair options and an estimate. You decide whether to file a claim. Report suspected covered damage promptly to your insurer and ask about deadlines. We provide construction documentation; your insurer determines coverage.

Should I wait for the adjuster before having the roof tarped?

Do not leave an opening unprotected while waiting. Arrange safe, reasonable temporary protection and notify your insurer promptly. Document conditions and keep invoices. Coordinate permanent repairs with the insurer so it can assess the loss.

Will insurance pay 100% of the tarping or tree removal?

Reimbursement is not guaranteed. Necessary temporary repairs may be reimbursable for a covered loss, subject to policy terms, limits and deductibles. Tree removal coverage depends on what was damaged and your policy; yard cleanup alone may not qualify. Confirm with your insurer.

Can you remove a tree even if it only fell in the yard?

Yes. Weather Shielders offers fallen-tree service, cutting and haul-off for trees on the ground as well as help with trees on houses. Call with the location and situation so we can assess access, hazards and the equipment needed. Cleanup and removal are quoted separately from the free assessment.

Is the storm damage assessment really free?

Yes—Weather Shielders offers a free storm damage assessment. Tarping, tree service, repairs and restoration are separate services with their own scope and price. Call to confirm scheduling and service availability for your address.

Do you offer cash referrals?

Yes. Know a friend, relative or neighbor who needs storm restoration? Send them our way and ask about our cash referral program, including the current amount and eligibility terms. You can also help a neighbor by sharing this guide.
